šŖDescribe yourself using one sentence.
An adventurous homebody who equally loves being outside in the sun and cozy inside working on a cool creative project.
šŖHow long have you been a member of Polaris?
I started in February of 2024. I had been weightlifting consistently for a couple of years and was interested in pursing a strength sport. Specifically powerlifting, but had never tried CrossFit so thought it would give it a shot before I committed.
My first class was small, with previous gym owner Monica, BJ and Carly. I remember thinking, āwow, everyone is SO nice, and SO strongā. I just had a great time – I was hooked immediately!
Tony even convinced me to participate in the Crossfit games, which I was hesitant being so new. But Iām so glad I did. It really pushed me early on and showed me how much I was capable of with a little dedication and persistence.
šŖIf you could go back and tell your day-one Polaris self one thing what would it be?
Donāt compare your beginning to someone elseās middle. Itās the act of showing up every day over the long term that produces results. Also being hyper-mobile is not an excuse to not do your warmups!
šŖWhatās your favorite thing to eat in Seattle? Thatās a tough one. I love Kati Vegan Thai, Chu Minh Tofu, Koshari, and Pi Vegan Pizzeria. I love food and cooking, and will genuinely try anything as long as itās vegan! Also if anyone knows where I can get a good ramen in Seattle please share Iām desperate.
šŖWhat cool things have you used your fitness for outside the gym?
As much as I love the sport for sports sake, the real benefit is how the gym affects the rest of my life. Iāve now biked from Seattle to Portland (twice), run a small duathlon, and gone on some pretty insane hikes. I genuinely love movement and trying new sports, which is wild to think about as I grew up as a very un-athletic indoor kid. Thereās honestly nothing better than feeling strong and capable in my own body.
šŖ If you could design your favorite workoutā Genuinely just long sessions practicing oly lifts or a weird gymnastics skill. But for a WOD: squat cleans, bike, and pull ups or KB swings!
