Parisi Speed School Seminar at Polaris

Parisi Speed School Seminar at Polaris

Learn How to Coach Speed, Not Just Run Drills

Parisi Speed School knows that Speed work can be one of the hardest things to coach well. There are plenty of drills out there, but it is not always clear what an athlete actually needs, what to cue, or how to fit it into the rest of their training.

This October, Polaris Strength & Conditioning is hosting Seattle’s first Parisi Speed School for a three-day, hands-on Anatomy of Speed seminar in Ballard. It is for Seattle-area coaches, trainers, PTs, and other fitness professionals who want a better framework for teaching acceleration, speed, change of direction, and deceleration.

The seminar runs October 16-18 and is approved for continuing education through NASM, ACE, ISSA, NSCA, and CSCCA.

What the weekend is about

The Anatomy of Speed curriculum comes from Bill Parisi’s book of the same name. The idea is straightforward: speed is trainable, and better coaching starts with understanding the pieces that produce it. Including how athletes create and direct force, how they use elastic qualities, and how timing and coordination affect movement.

This is not three days of sitting and taking notes. A Parisi master instructor will lead the seminar, and attendees will spend time on the turf assessing movement, practicing coaching cues, and working through progressions they can bring back to their own athletes and clients. Everyone receives a physical or digital copy of *The Anatomy of Speed*.

Why I’m most excited about the Parisi team is their enthusiasm for coaching. I have been to a number of Parisi trainings and every time I leave more energized as a coach so I can help my clients get excited about their goals.

What you will work on

– How acceleration, top-end speed, change of direction, and deceleration are produced

– How to assess an athlete and identify where they need help

– Progressions for acceleration, deceleration, and re-acceleration

– Ways to fit speed work into team training, small groups, personal training, and in-season schedules

– How these speed and agility principles apply not just to athletes but also busy adults and beginners

– Hands-on coaching practice and feedback

Who should come

This seminar is a good fit for strength and conditioning coaches, personal trainers, youth and high school sport coaches, physical therapists, and rehab professionals who are helping people return to running. You do not need a track background. If you coach people who sprint, cut, or need to move well at speed, you will get something useful from the weekend.
